The Dallas Latin Circle
I have a very exciting announcement! A few folks and I are starting a Latin Circle in the Dallas area. The first meeting will be Oct 16th, 2026 at 7:00 PM at a home in Sachse. The plan is to meet monthly. If you know Latin, want to speak Latin (whether you are good at that or not), live in the area, and have been looking for a group to converse with in Latin, then this might be for you.
Want to Join?
Contact me and I will tell you more.
Why Would We Do This?
We are doing this because we enjoy Latin.
Why Would You Go?
Here are a few good reasons to join a Latin Circle.
- Practice: Speaking and listening to Latin is excellent practice. If you practice a language in an immersive experience, even a "dead" language, you'll get better at your other language skills, like reading and writing.
- Accountability: It is easy to make excuses to not study when you're busy. Having a regular group with which to meet helps you establish a cadence of practice and study.
- Exposure: You will be exposed to new words, books, and resources as people share what they are learning.
- Fun: It is actually a lot of fun to speak in another language. If you haven't tried it yet, you should.
What Will We Do?
We will have a casual conversation in Latin as we enjoy some snacks.
Do You Have to Be a Latin Expert?
You should know some Latin before you join us. (If you want to learn Latin, contact me.) But you do not need to be an expert to join; we all have to start somewhere. You also do not need to have previous experience speaking Latin. We are meeting so that we can enjoy and practice Latin, not because we are all experts.
What If I Sound Stupid?
Everyone will make mistakes, including me. That's how we learn. And no one here is grading you.
So contact me if you are interested!
